Wild Flowers

It's definitely summer, you can see it and you can feel it. Whether it's the heat on your skin from the sun or the stuffy smell when rain first falls onto hot plants and tarmac. Wild flowers are blooming and the days stretch late into the night.

Yesterday Michael, Arlo and I packed up the car with the buggy, our new camera and a picnic. We got on the road and headed north to one of our favourites - RHS Wisley Gardens in Surrey. It was a gorgeous day. The sky was a perfect collage of pure blue and clouds, flirting with the sunlight.

The gardens are an idyllic escape. We come here often and let ourselves get lost amongst the park, exploring the higgledy piggledy paths and running away from the crowds. The flowers are gorgeous at this time of year - especially the roses. The air is fresh and tinged with their sweet scent.

Arlo has started to take in the world - he doesn't just stare at the enormous sky looming above him, he's taking in all his surroundings too. You can see him watching the trees, the leaves ripple and the branches sway in a gentle breeze. The patterns that the light and shadows create. The sounds of rippling water. The joy of mummy and daddy giggling with him.

For my birthday I was gifted a new camera. Although I'm still experimenting and finding my own style, it is so fun and uplifting to be creative again.

I'm beginning to fall in love with details. Shadows, sparkles, perfect moments.
