Mallory Knox

A long time has passed since I have listened to music, a very sad depressing statement I must admit. I am not counting the over produced plastic sounds on the radio. Now I have sat down with my cup of tea, cigarette and laptop, it feels so good to be comforted by the sweet notes of modern rock n roll.  Like reuniting with a long lost friend, I promise never to be so distant from it again.

Young British bands have a knack of building so much promise. They jump in the right direction but the final destination is just disappointing, like our weather. Especially when it matters the most. Finally an exception has emerged.

They are the birds flying in the sky. Stratospheric chorus’ down to somber ballads, Mallory Knox cover it all in their album Signals. Their guitar riffs, drumbeats and heart wrenching lyrics are not foreign or unfamiliar but they are a resolution to the auto tune, screaming and blunderingly awful writing that is considered in todays scene.

Their biggest songs do not just feature on their first album. Their EP is equipped with bright ingenious tracks too. They paved the way for these boys to an enormous fan base, radio play and an excellent well deserved hype. Many albums are a pick ‘n’ mix of tracks which get singled out and overplayed on their own. Now say bye bye to mixed playlists and shuffle, Mallory Knox have created an entire album worth playing, listening and learning from start to finish.

In the past few months Mallory Knox have jumped, scored and kept flying upwards with success. You would think that their recent album release was their greatest hits -haha it is that good. They have a strong front man with a fabulous vocal flair and a band with powerful expert dynamics. I have no fear in being optimistic about these guys. After all, their capabilities have beckoned me back to this blog. It feels satisfying to be embraced by good music again.
