The Drums

Simplicity is a fine art and to do it with critical acclaim is daring. The Drums new album had the danger of losing their engaging sound but jangly guitars & crooning vocals ripple up the shoreline of each track.

Portamento (which is referred to as a gradual slide from one note to another in the musical world e.g change) was a big fat caution sign for a derailing heap of try hard rubbish.

Luckily the inevitable whirlpools of disruption come down to the baggy production & coincidental songs not necessarily the overall sound. Its a recipe of smiths riffs, surfing, tense basslines and a shot of juice. Pretty much what The Drums are.
